To Find Wonder, Follow The Forgotten
Redstone-Ruby of the Rockies

Little bit of Redstone History- Gives you a little info for when you visit and to visualize Clara and Owen walking around. Grabbed this from Google search- it was faster, so I could keep on writing chapter 6- Redstone- The Tree That Remembers.
Redstone is a tiny, hidden-gem mountain village nestled in the Crystal River Valley, south of Carbondale. Known as the "Ruby of the Rockies," it feels like a step back in time with its towering red cliffs, historic European-style cottages, and relaxed pace.
Utopian History: Founded in the late 1890s by coal baron John Osgood, it was built as a wildly progressive "model company town". Workers actually had indoor plumbing and electricity, which was almost unheard of at the time.
The Redstone Castle: At the edge of town sits Cleveholm Manor (the Redstone Castle). This 42-room Tudor-style estate is a lavish, billionaire-built mansion surrounded by deep forests. I spent my Honeymoon night there- I had wanted to go in since I first saw it when I was around 12!!! It was SO cool and so much history!!
The Redstone Inn: The iconic centerpiece of the village. It was originally built as a dormitory for bachelor miners and is instantly recognizable by its distinct clock tower. We celebrated getting married with a great dinner, before we stayed at the Castle!!
Historic Coke Ovens: As you drive in, you'll see large, beehive-like stone structures along the highway. These are the historic coke ovens that processed coal for the region’s steel industry.
Small-Town Vibe: With a population of roughly 160 people, it's incredibly quiet. The main strip features a handful of local art galleries, antique shops, and cozy eateries.
Outdoor Playground: Sitting at an elevation of 7,200 feet, it’s surrounded by the White River National Forest. It acts as a perfect basecamp for hiking, fly fishing, and lots of exploring.
