 Come Along for the adventure....

I'm calling this blog Mapped By Merle, at least for now.

But what it is , won't change: this is my place to keep notes, share updates, think out loud, and bring you along for the whole messy, exciting, sometimes-overwhelming process of writing my first fiction novel.

I've got around six chapters written. They exist. They're real. They're also not quite long enough, is what my writer friends in the Florida Keys told me, as well as- a proper fiction chapter needs to breathe, be around 3500-4000 words, have a friend read it even when your not sure its ready and most of all they said, you took the first step, now you can take baby steps or giant steps to get to the finish just have fun getting there.

This blog is where I'll document all of it. The breakthroughs. The chapters I rewrite three times, ok, maybe like 10+ times!! The notes that turn into scenes. Or when I dream of what the cover should look like, getting in front of people to talk about it, and oh yea- the mini series it could become- Dream'n Big here!!

I'll even share my raw notes here sometimes, because that's part of the process, and I'd rather you see the real version of how a book gets made than some polished highlight reel.
